In preparation for Easter, the HAF team at Doncaster Council have been working hard to map out a programme of free fun activities across the city for children and young people who are in receipt of free school meals.

If you aren’t already aware, the HAF is the holiday, activity and food programme funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and is primarily for school aged children aged from reception to year 11 (inclusive) who receive benefits-related free school meals (FSM).

The programme provides nutritious meals and engaging activities to support children and young people during the Easter, Summer and Winter school holiday periods, The programme gives eligible children the opportunity to:

  • take part in fun and enriching activities that support their development
  • receiving healthy and nutritious meals
  • maintain a healthy level of physical activity
  • be happy, have fun and meet new friends
  • develop a greater understanding of food, nutrition, and other health-related issues
  • feel safe and secure
  • get access to the right support services
  • return to school feeling engaged and ready to learn
