As part of our Personal Development offer at the Academy, last week we celebrated National Careers Week 2022.

On Thursday all of our students took part in a full day of CEIAG (Careers Education Information and Guidance) lesson.

Year 7 focused on their personal skills and qualities and how they might relate to particular career paths.

Year 8 worked on a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) spaceport project with the UK Space Agency which gave them the chance to work as a team to achieve a set goal.

Year 9 spent the day learning about different business structures together with diversity and stereotypes in the workplace.

Year 10 visited Doncaster Racecourse to attend the Opportunities Doncaster Live careers fair, where they had the chance to speak to a wide range of local education providers and employers. Opportunities Doncaster LIVE – Doncaster Chamber (doncaster-chamber.co.uk)

Year 11 focused on writing applications and CVs as they prepare for the summer exams and their post-16 destinations.

We encourage you to talk to your son/daughter at home about their aspirations for the future. To support you with this NCW 2022 put together a really useful parent guide parent-carer-guide-the-parents-guide-to-ncw.pdf.

This digital magazine also contains a wealth of information on the current opportunities available to school leavers Careermag – Parents – Careermap

Finally, at the Academy we work closely with Progress Careers and have a careers adviser in the Academy to provide individual and independent advice each Wednesday. They have also put together a series of videos to guide you in supporting your son/daughter with their next steps Parents & Carers | Rossington All Saints (progress-education.org.uk).
