DC6-Information Evening

Dear Parent/Carer

Doncaster Collegiate Sixth Form Information Evening – Tuesday 4th December 2018 5.00pm – 7.00 pm

In October, we wrote to inform you about our proposed changes to the Sixth Form.  This was in response to the Doncaster Council Post 16 Review. Thank you so much to the parents and students that were involved in the consultation.  We are delighted to say that we have now officially submitted our application to the Department for Education to consolidate all of the Delta Sixth Forms in Doncaster into a new Sixth Form College, which will be ideally located in the town centre.

There is no better time to join our vibrant and dynamic Sixth Form, as we plan to grow and develop our provision. We provide an outstanding learning environment where students benefit from the individual care, attention and bespoke support offered to every member of our community.  We would like to invite students and parents from Years 7 - 11 to attend the Information evening, where parents will be able to find out more about our plans for the new Sixth Form College.

Venue: Sixth Form Centre at Don Valley Academy.

  • Start: Presentations at 5.00pm and 6.00pm for those that are unable to make the earlier time.
  • Refreshments: Food and drink will be available for parents and students throughout the evening.

Students and parents will be able to access subject based displays and talk directly with both staff and current students about Sixth Form courses. Our curriculum offer has expanded and now includes:

  • Scholars Programme – A Levels
  • Doncaster Internship Academy – Pre-Apprenticeship Programmes
  • Doncaster Academies of Sport, Performing Arts, Health Science, Business and Creative & Digital Media

There will also the opportunity to discuss options with our independent Careers Advisors and our partners.

A prospectus will be available on the evening, providing detailed information about each subject that will be available in September 2019. The Open Evening will also allow an insight into the extra-curricular, enrichment activities as well as leadership opportunities which add so much to the experience of our students. In order to get the most out of the Open Evening, we do advise that students and parents take some time to discuss Post-16 career plans in as much detail as possible.

We are very excited about the opportunities ahead for young people in Delta Academies in Doncaster and in particular for the growth of our Sixth Form College and look forward to seeing you there.
