Curriculum Structure Change

At Rossington All Saints Academy, we regularly review our curriculum and ensure that it meets the needs of all our students, preparing them fully for their GCSEs as well as for the next stages of their education or training at post-16.

As you may be aware, there has been considerable discussion nationally regarding curriculum structure and content following the implementation of a new Ofsted Inspection Framework for Schools, which came into effect on 1 September 2019. The resulting changes to the school curriculum will affect our current Year 8 students, as outlined below.

As from the current academic year, students will now select their option choices during Year 9, rather than at the end of Year 8 as in previous years, leading to a two-year Key Stage 4 in Years 10 and 11. During Year 9, students will continue to focus on a strong academic core as part of their preparation for GCSE. In turn, this will allow them to study a broad range of subjects whilst developing important key skills. Our Year 9 curriculum will therefore provide all students with a rich and rounded learning experience that will form a strong foundation for their GCSE studies, leading to their future success.

Further details of our curriculum can be found on the academy website.  (

Year 8 Parents’ Evening is scheduled for 10th March 2020, at which you will have the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with subject teachers. In the meantime, if you have any questions relating to your child’s curriculum, please do not hesitate to contact the academy.
