We have a well-constructed curriculum, tailored to meet the needs of our learners and address social disadvantage on many levels. Our curriculum offer is adapted to meet individual needs where appropriate and therefore offers a range of pathways, which we believe broaden rather than narrow the offer at different points during the five-year journey. This is essential to overcome social disadvantage and remove the barriers our pupils face. As a result, the number of pupils who are NEET has reduced below the national average of 2.8% to 0%.
Although we are a small school, in addition to the core subjects we deliver Engineering, Food technology, Computer science, Music, Drama, Art, Performing arts and Religious studies in Key Stage Three. In Key Stage Four we offer core Subjects (English Language, English Literature, Mathematics and Combined Science/Triple Science) along with a broad range of technical, vocational and academic subjects including Computer Science, Creative iMedia, Engineering, Geography, Health and Social Care, History, Hospitality and Catering, Music, Performing arts, Photography, Religious Studies, Sports Science, Sports Studies and Spanish. We plan to extend to a three year Key Stage 3 in September 2020.
All students are provided with a knowledge organiser and jotter, the knowledge organiser gives students a summary sheet for each of their subject areas linking to the topics delivered for that half term. Students then use the knowledge organiser in conjunction with their jotter to complete extended learning activities.
