Cheaper Travel for 16-18 Year Olds
13th July 2017Get cheaper travel with the new 16-18 Travel Pass
All 16-18 year olds living in South Yorkshire can apply for the new 16-18 Travel Pass to get cheaper travel on bus, tram and train.
Why should I apply?
- Now available to ALL 16-18 year olds in South Yorkshire.
- Cheaper travel for work, school, college or leisure.
- Travel for just 80p per journey on bus or tram and half fare on Northern trains.
- Travel anytime, anywhere in South Yorkshire.
- Valid through Summer months so you can enjoy cheaper travel in August.

OFSTED Inspection
3rd July 2017The academy has been notified of a Section 8 inspection that will take place on Tuesday 4th July.
The inspection team are keen to hear the views of parents and have provided a link to a parent questionnaire.

Snowboarding and Ski Trip
26th June 2017The academy will be running a Ski, Snowboarding and Winter sports trip during the Easter holidays 2018 for students currently in Y7-9. The trip is to Santa Catarina in Italy from 30th March to 7th April.
Interested students should see Miss Pearcey in the PE department for more information.

UCAS Fair
26th June 2017Y12 students have attended the annual UCAS fair in Sheffield where they had the opportunity to find out more about the options available to them after sixth form. A trip to McDonalds afterwards was a great bonus! All students showed great maturity and were a credit to the academy.

New Uniform Information
12th June 2017Please see below clarification on uniform and uniform expectations following the recent letter to parents.
The new uniform is for new Y7 students or students in other year groups who join the academy from September 2017.
Please note: there is no expectation for current students to buy the new uniform however from 1st July 2017, SPT uniforms will only stock the new uniform, all items purchased after this date will be in line with the new uniform.Further information on permitted uniform is available on the pa

Amazon in the Community
9th June 2017The academy recently received a donation from Amazon of £1000.00 as part their 'Amazon in the Community' programme where the company supports communities in and around where it operates in the UK.
The money will be used to fund the STEM club programme at the academy ensuring students can take part in even more experiements and innovative science lessons.
To celebrate the donation, members of the local Amazon team visitied the academy and took part in a forensics class with students from Years 7,8 and 9.

Inspiring Automotive Women
24th May 2017A group of Y8 and Y9 female students attended the Inspiring Automotive Women event at the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit yesterday. It was a fantastic day where they had the opportunity to meet and be inspired by a number of the UK's highest achieving women in the automotive industry.

Ryman National Enterprise Challenge
9th May 2017The academy welcomed the Ryman National Enterprise Challenge into school last week to work with Y10 students.
Students were set the challenge of creating a 'Ryman' app which they then had to present to a panel with the winning team going through to represent the academy in the final later in the year.
Well done to Y10 for some fantastically creative ideas and good luck to the winning team!

Auschwitz Visit
2nd May 2017Ross Fairweather and Hannah Coope have been selected as the Lessons from Auschwitz student ambassadors for this year and, as such, on Tuesday 4th April they visited Auschwitz 1 and 2. They had previously attended an orientation seminar to meet fellow students and gain further information and this was followed up by another seminar following the visit after which they will be organising a presentation that they will be delivering to other students in their collective worship assemblies.

Y11 Business Enterprise Day
7th April 2017Students have been working hard plannnng their Business Enterprise day with a range of events taking place including:
- Car Washing
- Easter Card Postal Service
- Treasure Hunt
- Hot Drinks stall
- Pop Up Cake Shop
- Penalty Shoot Out Competion
The activities will provide evidence for their coursework and all profits are going to the Cancer Support charity at the Holmes Carr Centre in Rossington.

Easter Services
7th April 2017Today all our students attended St Luke's Church for Easter collective worship where each House enjoyed a Rossington version of the quiz game Pointless.
Our students battled against each other and learnt many interesting Easter facts as part of the quiz.
Many thanks to Sam Coukham who played our very own Richard Osborne, Lily Rowbotham who had the very difficult job of managing the pointless computer and Chris Davies for playing a beautiful piece of music on his violin.

Y7 Jazzy Jotters!
31st March 2017As part of the academy's ongoing Careers, Education, Information and Guidance (CEIAG) programme Y7 students have been working in small enterprise groups to create Jazzy Jotters. Students were given a small budget and had to work as a team to plan, design and produce the jotters to the required specification whilst also ensuring that they quality assured all their products. There were some fantastic designs and some exceptional team work skills demonstrated.
