PE & Sport
Physical Education at Rossington All Saints Academy is vibrant and offers a wealth of experiences through curricular and extra-curricular activities. In our latest subject inspection in 2010 the Department was judged as ‘outstanding'.
The Physical Education provision at Key Stage 3 and 4 offers a wide variety of traditional and non- traditional activities, which allow students to develop and apply practical skills as well as developing understanding of rules and regulations, problem solving, team work and tactical concepts to outwit opponents. In addition to this the Physical Education department's emphasis on leadership is a real strength. Students begin to develop their leadership skills in Year 7 via a certified leadership ladder, which then progresses students onto Level 1 and Level 2 Sports leaders Awards.
Students who enjoy and flourish as leaders have the opportunity to join the Sports Leadership Academy, where students can access a variety of additional sports coaching qualifications. The Leadership Academy students then lead activities and events for RASA students and for students at local primary schools. Through the Leadership Academy we now have our own student Olympic Ambassador.
The qualifications offered within the Physical Education Department include:
KS4 Option Choices BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Sport
BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Sport
At Key Stage 5 students can access a pathway to employment in the Sport and Active Leisure industry by following a suite of Level 2 qualifications. Level 3 provision offers 3 pathways of study centred around BTEC Level 3 in Sport (Performance and Excellence). Students can choose to study pathways equivalent to 1,2 and 3 A Levels over 2 years.
Alongside the three Level 3 Sport pathways Rossington All Saints Academy is now offering 2 exciting additional specialist academies, to enhance student's experiences and qualifications.
The Howard Webb Referee Academy
We are proud of our growing referees academy which is supported by Howard Webb and the FA. Becoming part of this academy would provide excellent coaching opportunities (some of which are directly from Howard Webb), qualifying as a football referee amongst a number of additional football and coaching qualifications.
