Y11 South Yorkshire Cup Update

23rd October 2015

The Y11 boys football team played in the last 32 of the SY Cup this week and won 2-1 against Rawmarsh Community School.

It was a very even first half with chances at tbothe ends, with Rawmarsh taking the lead mid way through the first half.  Going behind inspired Rossington and they soon replies with a goal of their own through Jack Marquis, set up by a pin point cross from Callum Baker.

The second half started in a similar way with Rossington piling on the pressure, resulting in Rawmarsh clearing 5 attempts off the line. Rossington were further frustrated by the Rawmarsh keeper who pulled off a string of fantastic saves.

It looked like the game would be heading to extra time when super sub Tom Priestley ran on to a lovely through ball by Addison Senior and he lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box.  It was a well deserved goal and the lads saw out the remainder of the game without too many concerns.

There were some fantastic performances through the team but Thomas Stalton was awarded Man of the Match due to his outstanding performance at the back.

Next round the lads are at home to Wales Hight School.
