NUT Strike Action- 5th July 2016

1st July 2016

Dear Parent/Carer

INDUSTRIAL ACTION – Tuesday 5th July 2016

The National Union of Teachers (NUT) representing some teachers in schools have voted to take industrial action in the form of a one-day strike on Tuesday 5th July 2016.

We respect the teachers’ right to take this action in the dispute they have with the Department of Education.  However, we recognise that this will be disruptive to students’ education and can create problems for parents and carers.  We will therefore try our best to minimise any disruption to the normal function of the academy.

The disruption created by this strike day, and the need to have regard to the health and safety of pupils, has been assessed and as a result, after due consideration, the decision has been made to remain open and we are satisfied there is no risk to pupils’ welfare.

Wherever possible normal timetabled lessons will continue, with the possible exception of isolated occasions where students may be asked to participate in private study or enrichment activities under supervision.

Year 12 students should also attend the academy as usual and will be involved in a Careers Progression day where they will spend the day working on their UCAS/Apprenticeship Personal Statements and applications.
