Ethos and expectations

Our aim is to develop an ethos of learning through engagement.

In this faculty students will take part in a wide variety of learning activities where they have responsibility and opportunity to develop themselves. This active learning style is both challenging and rewarding.

Most lessons will have a kinaesthetic activity and opportunity for reflection upon the learning taking place. In Science this is mainly achieved through practical activities and the conclusions drawn through them. In Maths hands on activities that develop a particular mathematical concept achieve this.

To achieve learning in this way we expect students to engage with the activities fully and always try their best. Students are expected to complete the set work in lessons and hand all homework in on time. Teachers are expected to plan for engaging lessons, set meaningful homework each week and to provide a stimulating and challenging environment. They are also expected to mark the work done and provide useful and motivating feedback.

We expect all students to come to lessons ready to learn and fully equipped to do so. The equipment we expect students to have at all times is: a pen, pencil, ruler, rubber and a calculator.
