Rossington All Saints as a Church School
The school became a Church of England Aided school in September 2002 in partnership with the Diocese of Sheffield. We are the only Church of England secondary school in this area.
Our work in this context is developing in an intelligent, purposeful but measured way towards the following goals:
- To follow Christian principles and values in the way in which we conduct our daily lives and work at the school as students and staff.
- To develop a climate within which students and staff can grow and flourish, and learn to respect one another, accommodating difference and valuing the integrity of individuals.
- To ensure that both the formal curriculum and off-site learning afford all students throughout the school sufficient and quality opportunities to increase their awareness and understanding of faith - in particular the Christian faith - in our society and culture and throughout the world. In addition it seeks to give students the opportunity to reflect on the part which faith plays in their own lives and in the lives of others.
- To promote learning and teaching styles which value students' questions and give them space for their own thoughts, ideas and concerns, whilst at the same time acknowledging the significant impact which faith and religion can have on attitudes in a wide range of important social issues - such as ethics, global trades, race relations, social disadvantage, aggression, substance abuse.
- To provide outstanding care, guidance and support for all students at the school.
- Where students and staff already have religious beliefs, to support and develop these beliefs in ways which are personal and relevant to them.
- To ensure that regular, quality collective worship and special Christian celebrations at the school are occasions for exploring and affirming those matters of human worth which are at the heart of a shared humanity and provide students with further opportunities to explore issues of faith, develop a sense of belonging and create an environment for personal, social, moral and spiritual development.
- To extend these same values in our work with parents and the community beyond the bounds of the school.
Rossington All Saints prides itself on being an inclusive school and at the heart of this aspect of its work has been the co-coordinated, coherent work and approach of the Student Support Centre. Care and guidance is a strong feature of the school that is ‘good' and improving with the developing plans and interim structures for vertical grouping and the benefits that it will bring.
‘'This is a school with a well founded and caring Christian ethos underpinning a pastoral system that encourages and enables staff and pupils to flourish...The school very much lives out the quaotation from James2:18 -' I will show you my faith by what I do.'
